Welcome

About me: About
Ruth Reid  MSc, UKCP (Reg.)

I am an accredited, experienced counsellor and psychotherapist.  Over the past 20 years I have worked with clients in private practice, business and education settings, the NHS and the voluntary sector.

I currently act as mentor for student counsellors with the charity About You UK.

I am an integrative therapist which means that I am trained in a variety of counselling and psychotherapy approaches. This allows me to adapt the therapy process to what is most helpful to you. I offer therapy to adults aged 18 and over.

I had a wide ranging business career in both corporate and entrepreneurial environments before training as a therapist.

I am now based in Cornwall.

I have a particular interest in spirituality and how we find meaning and growth in our lives.

How I work

I offer a professional and confidential environment in which we can gently explore the issues which concern you and the emotions you may be feeling. Whatever you want to share, I will treat with dignity and respect.

My areas of work with clients include anxiety, depression, loss, stress, identity and the effects of trauma and abuse. I draw on a number

of well-researched approaches, including humanistic, relational and cognitive therapy, as well as recent neuropsychological

and trauma research.

Much of the therapy process is about talking, but I am also trained to use dreamwork and creative therapies as a way to access the unconscious part of ourselves which can be a source of insight and wisdom.

I see therapy as a collaborative process in which the relationship between therapist and client provides the canvas for change.

The type of therapy I offer seeks to support positive change, including improved relationships with others, deepened self-awareness and self esteem and greater resilience in dealing with life’s challenges.
